Bromley seeks action on climate changeFebruary 16, 2012Yellowknife, N.W. T. - Weledeh MLA Bob Bromley's crusade on greenhouse gas emissions is continuing at the Legislative Assembly. Bromley has already raised the ire of some cabinet ministers when he called the government's inaction on the issue akin to a crime against humanity, citing the United Nations' description. He says it has been a month since he raised the issue and wants to know what is going to be done. "A month has gone by and there is still no response, Mr. Speaker. So I'd like to ask that question again. What is this minister doing, what is he prepared to do to modify our policies and laws to address these concerns on greenhouse gas emissions?" Environment and Natural Resources minister Michael Miltenberger says the GNWT is working on the matter. "We've invested tens of millions of dollars in alternative energy, solar energy, building standards, any number of areas, waste reduction. All have energy components. All have climate change implications." Miltenberger also says having Bromley as part of the discussion will only mean good things considering his experience on the subject. CJCD Mix 100 News |
